Vegetal Origin. Witch hazel floral water has exceptional properties: it helps to refine skin’s texture, invigorate and purify the skin, and also has an astringent effect. Known to promote microcirculation, this floral water is recommended for combination, oily and sensitive skin prone to redness.
Native to North America and introduced into Europe in the 18th century, witch hazel is a shrub that is commonly found in the forests of Quebec and the Northeastern United States, where it easily withstands the sub-zero temperatures. It is used to treat venous insufficiency, phlebitis, hemorrhoids and certain skin conditions. The leaves and flowers are distilled to obtain witch hazel floral water. Remedies made with witch hazel have been found in European pharmacopeia for generations, with it being used for its soothing, circulation-boosting and astringent properties.
